Blackie Swart Cadet 2254

First ship was the SA Pioneer as Cadet. Joined 21st January 1965 and stayed for 15 months!?
Was then supposed to join the SA Seafarer in July of 1966 but unfortunately that could not happen!
The result was that I had to go to Japan and join Safs first new build, the SA Huguenot in Osaka.

Progressed from there to Langkloof, Tzaneen, Marland, Hexrivier.
Then joined Unicorn and sailed on the Border, Intombi and Ingane. Then joined a one ship company with the Judith R, a small reefer that serviced Mauritius and Reunion in the fruit season and the Congo with frozen meat from Angola out of season. Strange that the smaller the ships, the more memorable they were.
In between also did some fill in jobs on the Gemsbok and the whaler/weather ship the F.H. Hughes.
Signed off the Rennies coaster Jolanda as Master in 1974 and joined the Harbour Circus. Went through the ranks and ended up in PE as Pilot for 16 years. Things became too political and I joined De Beers Marine. At present Master on the Peace in Africa, recovering diamonds with a 250t crawler off the coast of Namibia.

Married and have 1 daughter and granpa to twins, a boy and girl.
